loodborne pathogens are microorganisms in human blood that can cause infectious disease in humans. These microorganisms include, but are not limited to, hepatitis B virus (HBV), hepatitis C virus (HCV) and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).

Workers in many occupations, including first aid team members, housekeeping personnel in some industries, nurses and other healthcare personnel may be at risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens through needle sticks and other sharps-related injuries.

Heartsaver Bloodborne Pathogens Course is a classroom course that teaches susceptible workers how to protect themselves and others from being exposed to bloodborne pathogens.

This course is designed to meet Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements for training to handle bloodborne pathogens when paired with site-specific instruction.
